HEART

Over the years, our friends have asked us the same set of questions. Everyone is curious about what we’re investing in, how we found it, how they get in, etc. To us, it’s not so much a question of the investments themselves but rather, “What is it all for?”

The way we invest stems directly from what we believe our purpose is and what the role of wealth should be in it.

WE EXIST TO PRACTICE STEWARDSHIP

Our mission is to take the concept of stewardship and live it out fully with our own resources and those of the people we care for. We exist to use these gifts wisely, acting as representatives and protectors of whatever is entrusted to us in a way that not only grows the lives of this partnership but also the world wherein that money is to live.

There is no room in our purpose for gambling, greed, or ego. There is only space for graciousness, relationship, shrewdness, faith and intelligence. Action is essential to our purpose. The gift of our energy and time is an opportunity to take real hopes and vision and pursue them into reality.

BY INVESTING REAL, SMALL & AWAY, TOGETHER.

Real

Our vision is to remove ourselves, and the people we care about as far away from the smoke and mirrors of macroeconomics that few, if any understand, but to which we willingly entrust ourselves too often. We do this by pursuing “touchable” investments that will retain their inherent value to us as human beings, no matter what is going on in the rest of the world.

Away

Away means alternatives. In the broadest sense, we are looking at investments that have little or no correlation to the stock market. These should adhere to basic common sense, be understandable and provide incredible protection against loss by being supported through tangible goods and managed by people who are competent enough to extract value from them as needed.

Small

Opportunities that are real and make sense are often small opportunities, tucked away in out-of-the-way corners of our world. The problem they solve is often obvious, understandable, meeting a very practical need in a simple way. Great stuff comes in small-batches. Relationships grow when there are fewer people interacting.

Together

Investing is not really something well-suited to doing alone. True strength comes from being a small band. Where one person cannot diversify in this field, a nimble union is more practical. We all share with  each other, and in sharing, we receive.

WHAT WE VALUE

  1. BE GENEROUS

Invest in others, give freely; it’s not ours anyway.

  2. REMAIN RELATIONAL

No man is a failure who has friends.

  3. OPEN THE KIMONO

    Be flagrantly truthful.

  4. KEEP THE HEIRLOOM

Act always in view of others and the future
